I am a freelance multimedia journalist based in Hanoi, with three years' experience working with Vietnam's largest digital publications and international media companies.
I cover a range of topics but specialize on environment, urbanization, gender inequality and sexual crimes.
I'm passionate about creating long-form & feature stories that explain the news. In 2016 & 2017, I have produced over ten in-depth reports for VnExpress International, Vietnam's most read English language newspaper. My most important works include a sexual assaults report that lead to an arrest in 2016, a month spent in public and private cemeteries in northern Vietnam documenting the capitalization of the death industry, and the violent days of ride-hailing app & traditional taxi drivers in Hanoi.
I'm currently continuing my path as a freelance feature writer. My most recent work documents Vietnam's informal recycling industry and a billion-dollar trash trade that shifts its way to Vietnam, as China said no to world's garbage.
I am also an aspiring filmmaker and motion graphic artist. At VnExpress International, I created daily text graphic videos for social media, animated explainers and filmed two short documentaries on the rise of western barbershops and charm schools in Hanoi.
I spend my free time scouting around for quirky food stalls and untamed travel spots in Hanoi. I once wrote an eight-chapter series exploring the work of a nearly forgotten Vietnamese spy/writer on Hanoi delicacies, and appeared on CNN Parts Unknown's food series The Perfect Dish Asia.
